What did the apostles preach? REPENT….
Acts 2:38, “Then Peter said to them, “Repent, and let every one of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins; and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.”
Acts 3:19, “Repent therefore and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, so that times of refreshing may come from the presence of the Lord”
Acts 11:18, “When they heard these things they became silent; and they glorified God, saying, “Then God has also granted to the Gentiles repentance to life.”
Acts 26:20, “(Paul) declared first to those in Damascus and in Jerusalem, and throughout all the region of Judea, and to the Gentiles, that they should repent, turn to God, and do works befitting repentance.”
Is it possible the modern church is missing an important part of becoming and being a Christian? We preach God loves everyone so if you just believe He exists, you can go to heaven when you die. This is an incomplete truth (deception). God does love and by grace He offers us to be saved out of this world and its ruler. We do need to believe Jesus exists and is the Savior. Salvation is eternal life in heaven when we die. That is a mental beginning. But, the whole truth is that we need to REPENT…to change our allegiance. It is by faith in response to His grace. We need to believe with the heart as well as the mind. It takes repentance and faith to go beyond believing the fact of salvation in Jesus.
Remember, Satan believes the fact that Jesus is the Savior of people, but he did not and does not repent and put faith in Him….or follow Jesus. Have I repented unto salvation? Am I a changed or converted person? Where is my heart? Am I faithful (full of faith) to following Jesus?
