Be clear that salvation is ONLY by the love and grace of God. It is a free gift that is not earned and cannot be earned by a person’s good works. But, to receive the free gift of salvation, we must respond in faith by trusting Jesus as our Savior and Lord.
Ephesians 2:8-10, “For by such GRACE you have been SAVED through FAITH. This does not come from you; it is the gift of God and NOT the result of ACTIONS, to put a stop to all boasting. For we are God’s masterpiece, CREATED in the Messiah Jesus TO PERFORM GOOD ACTIONS that God prepared long ago to be our way of life.”
It is a POSITIONAL change…from the lordship of ourselves, the world, and satan who is the ruler of this world….INTO the lordship of Jesus….FROM the kingdom of this fallen world INTO being a citizen in the kingdom of heaven. Ephesians 2: 18-19 and 22, “For through Him (Jesus), both of us (we) have access to the Father by one Spirit. That is why you are no longer strangers and foreigners but fellow citizens with the saints and members of God’s household…… You, too, are being built in Him, along with the others, into a place for God’s Spirit to dwell.”
It is a new start….a new life. I move FROM being a natural fallen child of the world INTO becoming an adopted child of God with a new name (the name of Yeshua). It is a new relationship. I also become a new spiritual creature inside.
1 John 3:1, “See what kind of love the Father has given us: We are called God’s children—and that is what we are!”
2 Corinthians 5:17, “Therefore, if anyone is in the Messiah, he is a new creation. Old things have disappeared, and—look!—all things have become new!”
By God’s love and grace, I am saved and in a new position in relationship with Him. It is available to whoever will receive the gift of salvation and follow His headship by FAITH, trusting in Him in this new life. That is the beginning of a grace relationship. Grace does not end at salvation. I continually need His grace to walk with Him in that salvation relationship and be changed by grace while I am still living in this fallen world. Any works I now do are for His glory and righteousness, not my own.
Repentance leads to salvation when I determine to change positions and submit myself under Jesus as my Savior and Lord. I find that I need continual repentance/change to learn to live in His kingdom as His child, in His righteousness. It is all by God’s love and grace that this wonderful life is available to me and you!
