We rejoice after revival…..only to discover that we are still in a battle. Sanctification comes next. It is a battle between this world and our old flesh trying to rise up against our new “born again” spirit. Satan has always fought against the kingdom of heaven.
Jesus said, “ And from the days of John the Baptist until now the kingdom of heaven suffers violence, and the violent take it by force. For all the prophets and the law prophesied until John.” Matthew 11:12-13. They fought in the spiritual realm and against its manifestations on earth. Jesus won that battle on the cross. We still need to work with the Holy Spirit to walk in that win until Jesus returns.
Sanctification is the work of the Holy Spirit to teach and guide us into a holy life. As we discovered in John 16….. He convicts of sin, righteousness, and judgment. Every good parent or coach does this. Learning is about correcting what is not right and making it right in order to get the good consequences. This work of the Holy Spirit will continue the process of revival in our souls. We should rejoice in His patience and persistent instructions and discipline…knowing that we are His workmanship to becoming Christlike. “For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them.” Ephesians 2:10.
