In Revelation 1-3 Jesus strongly encourages us to examine the church as a body…as well as individuals. I encourage you to read these chapters today.
In Luke 18:8, Jesus asks, “when the Son of Man comes, will He really find faith on the earth?” Jesus warns His church in Revelation 2 that they have forgotten their first love, must repent and remember Him. The warnings to the church are serious and also for today. For example, in Revelation 3 that the church has become lukewarm in their relationship with Him, must repent and return to passionate faithful love.
The Word warns about apostasy or a falling away of the church from Jesus in the last days. It warns of harlotry or the adulterating bride. This is someone who keeps the name, but not faithfulness in love; and therefore falls away in relationship (apostasy). Take a close and honest look at the American church. Are we as today’s church really a faithful bride…..constant, steadfast, loyal, true, in passionate love, giving priority, walking with, standing by, never focusing on another, giving all our time and efforts to, working together with, with Him always in our thoughts?
When you read Revelation 1-3, notice if the American church has fallen into any of these traps of satan.
Many of us know how to walk faithfully with our earthly spouse. Do you realize that we can also live this way towards Father, Jesus His Son, and the Holy Spirit. We will not be perfect, but our hearts and minds can be faithful and full of love and conviction.
