Remember we are building our foundation here. We need to make sure it is solid, established, and well thought out. Everything else is going to get built on top of it! AND we want to be very certain we are building on the ROCK and not the sand. (Matt. 7:24-29)
So, Jesus has us start in the beginning of His message (Matt. 5:1-3) with recognizing we are spiritually inadequate without Him AND we need Him and His blessing to build in His kingdom! We can also see this when Jesus confirms to Peter that His kingdom is built on the rock of revelation that “You (Jesus) are the Messiah, the Anointed One, the Son of the living God.” (Matthew 16: 15-19). Jesus is the Savior who the Father promised to send. Jesus is the Savior who makes us spiritually rich when we realize we are poor and come to Him.
Jesus calls Himself – the Way, the Truth, the Life…and adds that no one can come to the Father but through Him. (John 14:6) So, if you want to be in the Father’s kingdom, then you need to get there by believing and following Jesus, the Anointed Son of the Living God! He is the only way to get adopted into that heavenly family and made a citizen of His heavenly kingdom.
You must make that vow/ covenant/ promise to love the Father, Jesus, and Holy Spirit and eternally work together with Him in His kingdom or you are NOT in His kingdom. It does not matter how good or successful you are because you do not enter His kingdom by your works. This is also not a religious membership. You actually need to pledge allegiance on a forever basis and live it out. AND you need to recognize His authority over you as Father and Savior and Lord.
If you are not building on that Rock, then you are building on sand….even if you have been told or think you are safe. It is essential to build your foundation on the Rock! Everything else depends on it! So, rejoice if you now see that you are lacking as a fallen spirit being….for the Supreme Being has made a Way for you to become rich in spirit through His Only Begotten Son so that you too may be included as a son or daughter in the kingdom of heaven…..and He will be your Father also!
“Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.” Matthew 5:1.
