The Comforter

In the beginning of Jesus sermon, we learned that a real relationship with Jesus (Matt. 5:3) is the primary foundation of building on the Rock (sermon summary in Matt. 7:24-27). Continuing with the 2nd beatitude and next critical part of our build is, “Blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted” (Matt. 5:4).

Jesus disciples mourned when Jesus informed them of His soon coming death.  He taught about a Comforter that He would send in John 14. He said He would not leave them orphans.  He fulfilled His promise by sending the Holy Spirit at Pentecost.

After some thought, I summerize….Empowered to prosper spiritually and be overcomers are those who grieve because of personal sin and a fallen world, turn to Jesus, receive the Holy Spirit, and they will be comforted and helped by The Comforter, the One Called Alongside to Help in this life and also in the kingdom of heaven to come!  True blessing!  True comfort!

After our repentance and mourning, we need a Comforter!  Besides becoming the friend of Jesus, we also need to become the friend of the Holy Spirit.  We need relationship with both! So, if you have not already done so, ask the Holy Spirit to be your Best Friend and Comforter and Teacher!  He will come and fellowship with your real inner person…your spirit…..the same way Jesus does if you have decided to follow Him.    Besides comforting you, the Holy Spirit will lead you and help you to become like Jesus…….the perfect Son of God the Father.  Our goal is to be the Father’s  good children, to be in the image (imitators) of Jesus.

True Comfort that never fails….building on solid Rock!
