Jesus Brings True Comfort

Jesus proclaims He fulfills our true comfort from heaven!

Remember when Jesus stood in the temple and read from Isaiah 61 and proclaimed today He had fulfilled it in their ears? (My thoughts in parentheses.)

Isaiah 61: 1-3. “The Spirit of the Lord is upon me,
because the Lord has anointed me;
he has sent me to bring good news to the oppressed (comfort)
and to bind up the brokenhearted (comfort),
to proclaim freedom for the captives,
and release from darkness for the prisoners (comfort);
to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favor (comfort),
the day of vengeance of our God (comfort – because evil is overcome);
to comfort all who mourn (remember “Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted?);
to provide for those who grieve in Zion (the place of God’s habitation)—
to bestow on them a crown of beauty instead of ashes (comfort),
the oil of gladness instead of mourning (comfort),
a mantle of praise instead of a spirit of despair. (comfort)”

“Then people will call them “Oaks of Righteousness”,
“The Planting of the Lord”,
in order to display his splendor.” (total true and solid comfort and joy!)

EVERY child of the heavenly Father  (made possible through the Son Jesus) can rejoice in His highest comfort, no matter what!

Remember when Peter got out of the boat in the middle of a terrible storm so that He could get to Jesus?  Jesus was walking on water overcoming the storm.  Peter started walking on water to Jesus.  But, he became fearful when he looked at the waves instead of focusing on Jesus….so he began to sink!  But, his reaction was to call on Jesus for help!  Great reaction!  And Jesus grasped Peter’s hand and pulled him up out of the water.  And then Jesus even stilled the storm.  Now there is an example of how to build on the Rock when the storms come! (Matthew 14: 22-33)  Jesus comforts in storms!
