Peace With Others – James 3

My summary: If you want to be a spokesperson, witness, or teacher to others for Yeshua Jesus, then you will need to learn to control your mouth and what you say.  People do not take “blabbermouth” seriously. Controlling what you say is way more difficult that you think.  When I first took on this challenge, I was surprised how much I said that the Holy Spirit had to correct.  There are idle words, vain/useless words, gossip, little white lies, judgmental, selfish, complaining, envy, angry, worldly words …you get the idea.

I finally just kept silence with the idea, “If you can’t say anything nice, then don’t say anything at all.”!  If we are not trained to speak the truth in love, then we cannot be a good example, teacher, or helper for someone else. We will not be properly equipped to be a true peacemaker.

Peacemakers of Father Creator cannot be self-seeking or defensive or foolish or arrogant or insist on their own way.  Have you ever read 1 Corinthians 13 and tried to apply that to what you say? I challenge you to check it out and give it a try!

And then remember that what we do should always match what we say.  That is another huge challenge…work on always doing what you say…not changing plans, not being late, not adding extra or taking anything away.  Try being true to your word as exactly as you can possibly be.  God is always faithful to His word.  Shouldn’t His peacemaker representatives also be faithful to their word?  Otherwise, why should anyone believe us when we tell them about the Peacemaker?  We must talk and act in God’s wisdom based on His Word….faithfully.

James 3:17-18, “ But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, willing to yield, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality and without hypocrisy.  Now the fruit of righteousness is sown in peace by those who make peace.”
