Foundation #1 – “Blessed are the poor in spirit for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.”
We are made righteous (in right standing) through Jesus when we recognize we are poor in spirit – in and of ourselves. While we were a fallen people in bondage to a fallen principality (Satan) in a fallen world, Yeshua (Jesus) came to make the Way for us… to restore relationship with our Creator Father in His heavenly kingdom. He paid the ransom price with His holy blood so that we captives could be set free…..in order to be adopted into a new family and a new kingdom. We must recognize we are desperately poor in spirit and then choose union with Yeshua Jesus, and stay in close relationship with Him. Yeshua Jesus is the ONLY way into the kingdom of heaven!
Foundation #2 – “Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted.”
Our Father has provided His Holy Spirit sent by Yeshua/Jesus to be our Comforter, Teacher, and Mentor. The Holy Spirit leads us to Yeshua (Jesus) and convicts us of sin, righteousness, and judgment. We mourn and repent when our eyes are open to sin in our own lives. We mourn and intercede in prayer when our eyes are open to sin in the lives of others. The Holy Spirit comforts and instructs us. He empowers us. He teaches us the right character and right ways of the Father. He leads us that we might bear good fruit.
Foundation #3 – “Blessed are the meek, for they will inherit the earth.”
We have a Heavenly Father who is our authority. We are to humble ourselves, and in meekness, honor our heavenly Father by submitting in obedience to His Holy Spirit. Creator Father is supreme authority! We must set aside pride and realize we need Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. We must come to our senses and admit we all sin, so we must repent of wrong and willingly train in righteousness and obedience. When we are teachable and trainable, we will inherit the earth and reign with Him!
Foundation #4 – “Blessed are those who hunger and thirst after righteousness, for they will be satisfied.”
King David was a man after God’s heart. David chased after the heart of God to continually know Him more and to walk in His Word of truth and righteousness. In that pursuit; his heart became more like God’s. We read Psalms 119. David hungered and thirsted for righteousness as his life giving necessity. He wrote in Psalm 42:1, “As the deer pants for streams of water, so my soul pants for you, my God.” The promise held true and David was satisfied and in right standing with God.
We need to ask ourselves, “Is that the passion and primary desire of my heart?” We must passionately hunger and thirst for Father, Son, and Holy Spirit and their righteousness (right way of thinking, being, and doing). We cannot become lukewarm. We must strip away everything else that would try to entangle us. We must keep our hearts in His love; and our hunger and thirst for righteousness will be fed and satisfied.
Foundation #5 – “Blessed are the merciful, for they will attain mercy.”
Creator Father has so much love and mercy on His created humans that He gave His only begotten Son that we might be saved. Father, Son, and Holy Spirit have fulfilled this plan so that the debt we would never have been able to pay for sin, has been paid. Now, all we need to do is receive it in loyalty and thanksgiving to Him. If His mercy towards us has been so expansive, then how could we not forgive some small debt from our fellow humans? And as we extend the gift of mercy in Truth, the good news of the gospel, our fruit will be more mercy in our own lives and in the lives of others!
Foundation #6 – “Blessed are the pure in heart, for they will see God”.
Pure means without mixture and of one substance. We can only be made pure when we leave the world and come into the purity of Yeshua Jesus. His blood has cleansed us and made us pure and in right standing (righteousness) with our Creator Father. Our heart is made pure that we might see God. Yet, we live in human fallen bodies and in a fallen world. If we say we do not sin, then we are not saying the truth. Repentance and turning from wrong doing ….working to improve in right doing (righteousness) is what we do! We burn up the contamination and work towards purity. We are growing in Christ…to become like Him! It matters a great deal that my heart is right and in pure motivations…truly in love with Yeshua Jesus….truly intending to do my best to follow Him….with passion and desire to be like Him. And the Holy spirit is faithful to let me see God and His Ways! What a supreme delight!
Foundation #7 – “Blessed are the peacemakers for they will be called the sons of God.
We can only be true peacemakers if we are following the true Peacemaker. Internal peace with Father, Son, and Holy Spirit is the only real peace. This is the gospel…good news message. Jesus came to make peace with Creator Father and man. As disciples of the Peacemaker, we are to go preach and practice true peace and make more disciples…peacemakers. Peace is unity with God and one another. Chaos and confusion steals peace. We can have true peace in the midst of a storm. Governments will never make this kind of true peace and shalom blessing. The world cannot understand His peace. But, when those in the world see the peace in you, they will call you the sons and daughters of God.
Foundation #8 – ‘Blessed are those who are persecuted for righteousness sake, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.’
Yeshua Jesus warned us that in this world we would have trouble and persecution. But, He encouraged us that in Him we would be overcomers of this world. Storms come. Persecution comes ranging from ridicule to martyrdom. But, He will never leave us or forsake us. Moses told God that he would not enter the wilderness with the people of God if the Presence of God was not with them. Moses entered the cleft of the Rock. We should have the same attitude as we go into the world. There is trouble and persecution out in the wilderness world. But, better to face the trouble and persecution with Father, Yeshua Jesus, and the Holy Spirit than to join the enemies camp! We must stand fast and be strong and of good courage…..ours is the kingdom of heaven eternally…regardless of temporary circumstances now. Yeshua Jesus was persecuted and as His followers and sons/daughters, we can expect the same. He overcame and we too are promised to overcome in Him!
