False Hope

Here is the “kicker” when it comes to hope…..what if who or what you put your hope in is not true and something you should not put faith into?  That would mean you have put your hope in something that is not reliable.  It would be false hope.  And false hope disappoints.  Some people have set up false hopes and been disappointed so often that they lose hope altogether!  That leads to depression and anxiety.  It can even lead to no longer trusting anyone or anything…..which causes a person to fall away from faith….also called apostasy. So, what our hope is founded on is critical!

Proverbs 10:28, “The hope of the righteous will be gladness, but the expectation of the wicked will perish.”

Proverbs 13:12, “Hope deferred makes the heart sick, But when desire is fulfilled, it is a tree of life.”

False hope is a disaster waiting to happen. It is so very important that we are placing our faith and hope in the One who is true and His Word that is true and never fails.

Proverbs 30:5, “Every word of God is pure: he is a shield unto them that put their trust in him.”

Isaiah 55:11, “So will My word be which goes out of My mouth; It will not return to Me void (useless, without result), without accomplishing what I desire, and without succeeding in the matter for which I sent it.”

God told Jeremiah, “Then said the Lord unto me, you have well seen: for I will hasten my word to perform it.” (Jeremiah 1:12)

2 Corinthians 1:20, “For all the promises of God in him are yea, and in him Amen, unto the glory of God.”

Romans 5:5, “Now hope does not disappoint, because the love of God has been poured out in our hearts by the Holy Spirit who was given to us.”

We must examine our hopes and check what we are believing in and hoping for……are my hopes in the world, other people, other philosophies, in my own efforts?  Or are my hopes based on God and His promises in His Word?  What should I be hoping for if I expect to NOT be disappointed?
