Read and think on James 2: 4-6:
“What profit, my brethren, if someone says he has faith but does not have works? Can faith save him? If a brother or sister is naked and destitute of daily food, and one of you says to them, “Depart in peace, be warmed and filled,” but you do not give them the things which are needed for the body, what does it profit? Thus also faith by itself, if it does not have works, is dead. But someone will say, “You have faith, and I have works.” Show me your faith without your works, and I will show you my faith by my works. You believe that there is one God. You do well. Even the demons believe—and tremble! But do you want to know, O foolish man, that faith without works is dead? Was not Abraham our father justified by works when he offered Isaac his son on the altar? Do you see that faith was working together with his works, and by works faith was made perfect? And the Scripture was fulfilled which says, “Abraham believed God, and it was accounted to him for righteousness.” And he was called the friend of God. You see then that a man is justified by works, and not by faith only. Likewise, was not Rahab the harlot also justified by works when she received the messengers and sent them out another way? For as the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works is dead also.”
As followers of Yeshua Jesus, it should now be our desire to walk in His instructions and ways….doing His works. He has given us His Word to teach us His wise and good ways (Psalm 119). His Word is good and for our benefit and blessing. Plus, now He has even given us His Holy Spirit in us to help us!
But, if we do not choose to follow His words and ways, then justice demands consequences. The Lord is holy and just. The law of sin and death is that sin results destruction and death. The law of the spirit of life is that if you obey the Spirit of righteousness, the consequence is life. Once we were bound to the law of sin and death. But now, we have opportunity to follow the law of the spirit of life by abiding in/being connected to Yeshua Jesus! We have HOPE of salvation and HOPE of righteousness!!!
Now, as HIS people, we should be learning (seeing the wrong in the evil world ways and coming to know His instructions and ways) and repenting (being sorry we were partakers in it….confessing of our errors….and determining to change, practice, and live in His new kingdom good ways)….so that we can become more like Him in His righteousness (right thinking and right doing). Yeshua Jesus tells us we cannot serve Father God and the world (mammon) in Matthew 6:24. Even in Old Testament times people had to choose who they would serve. Joshua 24:15, Exodus 32, and Numbers 16) are examples. ————-
