As much as I need to shut the door to the outside world, I need to open the door to the Holy Spirit. I cannot just confess Jesus as Lord, I MUST abide in Him to bear His fruit! We need to look at that relationship first if we are to HOPE for Holy Spirit fruit in our life!
To the faithful church, Yeshua Jesus says:
Revelation 3:7-8, “He who has the key of David, He who opens and no one shuts, and shuts and no one opens”: “I know your works. See, I have set before you an open door, and no one can shut it; for you have a little strength, have kept My word, and have not denied My name.” (Yeshua Jesus is the key of David that opens the door to following Him.)
To the lukewarm church, Yeshua Jesus says:
Revelation 3:19-20, “As many as I love, I rebuke and chasten. Therefore be zealous and repent. Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and dine with him, and he with Me.” (Jesus sent us the Holy Spirit to teach and train us….John 16: 7-8, “Nevertheless I tell you the truth; It is expedient for you that I go away: for if I go not away, the Comforter will not come unto you; but if I depart, I will send Him unto you. And when He is come, He will reprove the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment.” We must not reject the rebuke, chastening, conviction, and correction of the Holy Spirit. His love compels His training in righteousness and keeping us in union with Yeshua Jesus)
Yeshua Jesus told us that He is the vine, we are the branches, and we need to stay connected. John 15: 1-17 is magnificent in telling us about this! I have capitalized the IF because you cannot claim the promises or hope for the fruit IF you are not part of the IF.
“I am the true vine, and my Father is the gardener. He cuts off every branch in me that bears no fruit, while every branch that does bear fruit he prunes so that it will be even more fruitful. You are already clean because of the word I have spoken to you. Remain in me, as I also remain in you. No branch can bear fruit by itself; it must remain in the vine. Neither can you bear fruit unless you remain in me. I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing. IF you do not remain in me, you are like a branch that is thrown away and withers; such branches are picked up, thrown into the fire and burned. IF you remain in me and my words remain in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be done for you. This is to my Father’s glory, that you bear much fruit, showing yourselves to be my disciples.
As the Father has loved me, so have I loved you. Now remain in my love. IF you keep my commands, you will remain in my love, just as I have kept my Father’s commands and remain in His love. I have told you this so that My joy may be in you and that your joy may be complete. My command is this: Love each other as I have loved you. Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one’s life for one’s friends. You are my friends IF you do what I command. I no longer call you servants, because a servant does not know his master’s business. Instead, I have called you friends, for everything that I learned from my Father I have made known to you. You did not choose me, but I chose you and appointed you so that you might go and bear fruit—fruit that will last—and so that whatever you ask in my name the Father will give you. This is my command: Love each other.”
Remember the beatitudes of Yehsua Jesus great sermon in Matthew 5? Humble yourself, repent, and submit to the Father through Yeshua Jesus and abide in the Holy Spirit by pursuing righteousness and purity with the goal to see and know God…..then follow His Words and ways through the rest of the sermon Matthew 5-7 to build a house on the Rock. That is being part of the IF. If we continue in close relationship, we can hope for Holy Spirit fruit!
Do you know the parable of the sower and the seed in Matthew 13? Plant good Word seeds. Protect and water them. You can bear much fruit!
We can have HOPE to bear Holy Spirit fruit IF…..are you in the IF?
