Matthew 7: 7-11. “Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives; the one who seeks finds; and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened. Which of you, if your son asks for bread, will give him a stone? Or if he asks for a fish, will give him a snake? If you, then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give good gifts to those who ask Him!”
James 1:17, “Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows.”
What do you hear the Holy Spirit teaching us here? I hear that we need to fellowship with our Father and ask Him! We are not supposed to just go at it on our own in our own way. We seek Him and therefore we also seek in His way, His wisdom, His provision. His answer and gift may be something we never would have thought of on our own…but His way is always the best for us and His good provision! This is true even when we do not understand or it seems unpleasant to us. Ask and trust Him…listen for His answer and obey. Pastor Charles Stanley often advises us to pray, listen, and wait before doing and also to “obey God and leave all the consequences to Him”.
Yes, God does want to be involved in all our earthly needs. Ask Him. And also thank Him.
