If we pray according to God’s Word, then we know that we have those things for which we pray.
1 John 5: 14-15, “Now this is the confidence that we have in Him, that if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us. And if we know that He hears us, whatever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we have asked of Him.”
Therefore, we can use His Word as a prayer guide. I find two of Paul’s prayers in Ephesians and Colossians to be very significant and assuring when praying for others or myself. I begin by asking the Holy Spirit to reveal truth to us that we might come to our senses. Then, I pray these verses inserting “me or I”, or the name of the person for whom I pray, or even a group of people (as in….those who read my Facebook or blog posts) by substituting for “you”. Then I know it is according to God’s Word and His will. I am assured He hears my prayer and will work towards its fulfillment! Maybe you would also like to pray these verses for yourself and for others?
Ephesians 1: 16-19, “ I do not cease to give thanks, making mention of “you” in my prayers: that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give to “you” the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of Him, the eyes of “your” understanding being enlightened; that “you” may know what is the hope of His calling, what are the riches of the glory of His inheritance in the saints, and what is the exceeding greatness of His power toward “us” who believe”.
Colossians 1:9-14, “I ask that “you” may be filled with the knowledge of His will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding; that “you” may walk worthy of the Lord, fully pleasing Him, being fruitful in every good work and increasing in the knowledge of God; strengthened with all might, according to His glorious power, for all patience and longsuffering with joy; giving thanks to the Father who has qualified “us” to be partakers of the inheritance of the saints in the light. He has delivered “us” from the power of darkness and conveyed “us” into the kingdom of the Son of His love, in whom “we” have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins.”
I can be assured that when Yeshua Jesus is revealed, received, and known in a person’s life, then as His workmanship, it will all work together for that person or persons….no need to worry…we are in good hands! Yeshua Jesus is our assured HOPE and victory! Let’s hope and pray to know Him more!
