Pleasing God

Hebrews 11:6, Without faith it is impossible to please God, because he who comes to God must believe that He is and that He rewards those who diligently seek Him.  Faith means to believe in, trust in, rely on. When I really believe in something or someone, it affects how I live.  Faith is proven in living it out.  What we really truly believe will direct our decisions and actions.  I will follow the one I really trust.  When someone only has mental assent without heart faith and trust…that is dead faith.  I can believe that George Washington existed and was a good person, but I do not really know him or have a relationship with him.

Faith in God is more than just believing He exists….that is the beginning.  Only living faith in God…lived out..pleases Him.

Mathew 5:6, “Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness for they shall be filled.”

2 Corinthians 13:5, “Keep examining yourselves to see whether you are continuing in the faith.  Test yourselves.  You know, don’t you, that Jesus the Messiah lives in you?  Could it be that you are failing the test?”

As Christians, we say we say we believe in God, but who do we actually and in reality and ultimately believe in, trust in, and rely on in our every day living?  Do I turn to God every day?  Or do I trust in myself? My job? My family? My reputation? My friends? My church?  My education? My talents? My government?  My community? Am I proud of being self sufficient?

What rock am I standing on?  What foundation am I building on?  What or show do I put my every day faith in?  We are to do our best and encourage one another, but always remember and continually consult and fellwoship with God (our Fahter, Jesus, Holy Spirit)…our solid foundation of faith!
