Exodus 16: 1-7….God provides a bread like substance from heaven. They call it “manna” which means “what is it?” In verse 4, we see that God will use this situation to teach, train, and tests the Israelites, to see if they will follow His specific instructions. Obedience to His Word will mean bread. Jesus confirms that lesson….
Matthew 4:4, “Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds out of the mouth of God.”
John 4:34, “Jesus said to them, ‘My food is to do the will of Him who sent Me and to completely finish His work.'”
We also can see the prophetic foreshadowing of Jesus and pattern/way of God in this….
John 6:51, “I am the Living Bread that came down out of heaven. If anyone eats of this Bread (believes in Me, accepts Me as Savior), he will live forever.”
John 6:35, “I am the Bread of Life. The one who comes to Me will never be hungry, and the one who believes in Me as Savior will never be thirsty, for that one will be sustained spiritually.”
God provides the bread (manna) and water in the wilderness. God the Father gave us His Son, Yeshua Jesus, as the Bread of Life and the Living Water that we might consume His sacrifice as Savior and Redeemer, and live eternally with Him! It is now while we are living in the wilderness of this fallen world, that we must pick Him up every day and consume what is provided by the Holy Spirit!
