Revelation 4….the pattern of the four living creatures around God’s throne.
The Word of God is consistent. His Word is consistently true and timeless. His ways are consistently true and timeless. Therefore we can find patterns in scripture, both righteous and evil. So, let’s take a quick look at the 4 living beings around God’s throne pattern. We have seen how it reveal the character of Father God, reveals Yeshua Jesus, as inspired by the Holy Spirit. Remember…the lion, the ox, the man, and the eagle.
There are also 4 gospels revealing the life and ministry of Yeshua Jesus. So, look at this…what did the early church leaders think about the 4 living creatures about the throne in Revelation of Jesus as aligned with the 4 gospels?
Irenaeus, in 130-201, looks at how the gospels begin.
Matthew speaks of the humanity of Christ…the man…bercause it beg8ins with His genealogy…Son of Man
Mark speaks of the divinity of Christ…the eagle…because it begins with prophecy from Isaiah…Son of God, Prophet
Luke speaks of the priesthood of Christ…the ox…because it begins with priestly sacrifice, and oxen and calves were used in Jewish Old Testament sacrifice…Savior and High Priest.
John speaks of the kingship of Christ.. the lion….because it begins in full confidence of His absolute Kingship as the First and the Last….King of Kings.
Jerome, in 347-420, looks at how the gospels begin with different thoughts for Mark and John
Matthew speaks of the humanity of Christ…the man
Mark speaks of the kingship of Christ…the lion…begins like a lion roaring in the desert with prophetic power
Luke speaks of the priesthood of Christ…the ox/calf
John speaks of the divinity of Christ…the eagle…..begins flying heavenward like the divine Word.
I prefer the first alignment, but either way….all reveals Yeshua Jesus and shows consistency.
Also, consider our working together with Jesus as He worked, under the ministry of the Holy Spirit (Ephesians 4:12. as the ministry gifts align with the 4 creature about God’s throne.
Apostle and High Priest…Hebrews 3:1…the lion who is spiritual head.
Prophet…Deuteronomy 18:18…the eagle who has sharp eyesight from up high in heaven to speak God’s truth.
Evangelist….Mark 2:17…the man who proclaims Yeshua Jesus Savior of the world for all mankind.
Pastor and Teacher…John 10:11, Mathew 8:29….the ox who is lie a parent to the church that they might grow in the Lord and in Truth
Do you see the pattern, consistency, and revelation of Yeshua Jesus in the Word of God?
