Revelation 6: 7-8 The Fourth Seal Opened
To the Hebrew,. the number 4 represented completeness, like the 4 corners of the world (north, south, east, west), the 4 rivers in the Garden of Eden, the 4 horns on the alter, and the 4 beasts in Danie’s vision…as few examples. We also see this recently in the 4 living beings around the throne of God and the 4 gospels. The number 40 also represents a completed time of testing or opportunity for repentance….as in Johan giving Nineveh 40 days to repent, Noah experienced the rain for 40 days and 40 nights at the beginning of the flood, the 40 Days of Awe to offer repentance before God’s appointed feast of the Day of the Lord, also called The Day of Atonement, and Yeshua Jesus was tested 40 days in the wilderness right after His baptism and before His earthly ministry.
We are now at the 4th seal…the last chance. The world is in deep deception, experiencing persecution, wars, and attacks, enslaved by evil world systems and evil manipulating rulers who are failing, all this is causing famine, pestilence, and death. Thus, the fourth ashen horse and rider of death are released. Notice that death and Hades follow after the sword of this rider. IT is the unsaved evil who are dying at the hands of this rider. We know because those he killed are going to Hades and not heaven. And remember that the sword of the Lord is the Word of God! This judgement of death comes to a quarter of the earth’s population.
These people have been given many opportunities, the full measure, and yet continued to choose evil. Their hearts are hardened. What happened when the people of Noah’s day were unrepentant? What happened to the Pharaoh and people of Egypt who hardened their hearts, even after the many warnings of God through Moses and resulting plagues? IF the blood was not on the doorpost, the firstborn of Egypt died. If you do not choose Life, you reap death!
Hebrews 3:15, “Today, while there is opportunity, if yo hear His voice, do not harden your heart…”
Do you think God has the attention of His enemies? Aren’t you overwhlemingly glad that He is coming to the aid and rescue of His people!
Can you see His many warnings that show what eventually happens when people choose evil and thus the consequences of destruction and death? God is trying to convince them to repent. He is giving opportunity. But for those who will not listen and change, their hearts just get hardened even more.
There is no salvation without repentance…for all people sin and come short of the glory of God, and sin requires judgement in order for righteousness to prevail. (Romans 1:18, Romans 3:23). In God’s love and grace, the Way of restored relationship in righteousness has been prepared. Have you chosen His Way? Have you chosen Yeshua Jesus as your Savior and Lord? Be prepared for His coming. We should have an awesome fear of the Lord who determines our eternal fate! Repent and be saved!
