Revelation 14: 6-7 Declaration From Heaven
A declaration from heaven! A mesenger angel from heaven declares the truth of the eternal gospel of Yeshua Jesus benig Savior and Lord, giving one last chance to all inhabitants of earth. Instead of giving your awe, reverence, and obedience to Satan, turn and give God glory, honor, praise, and worship, with all your heart! He is Creator! And the time of His judgement has come! All the true evidence has been brought before His throne. It is time for judgement by The Judge of Righteousness!
The verdict for Satan and his followers is guilty. What is the punishment and sentence for evil? Doom is decreed for Babylon and the followers of the beasts (verses 8-11). Who do you choose to serve? It is final deciding time. There is no more saying you are a Christian, but in reality choosing and following the world and its god.
Joshua 24: 15, “If it is unacceptable in your sight to serve the Lord, choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve, whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the River (Egypt), or the (pagan) gods of the Amorites in whose land you live, but as for me and my house we will serve the Lord.”
Revelation 14: 8 Judgement…fallen, fallen is immoral idolatrous Babylon!
Who is Babylon?
Genesis 10:10 Noah’s son Ham fathered Cush who fathered Nimrod. Nimrod was the mighty ruler who led the people to build the Tower of Babel…and led them to believe they could raise themselves up to be god in heaven instead. This was in Babel, in the land of Shinar, also called Babylonia. Nimrod also built Assyria and Nineveh, a few of the future immoral pagan enemies of the Israelites. Nimrod was only the 4th generation from righteous Noah, but he turned from God for the glories of the world, immorality, and pagan worship (including humanism).
2 Kings 20-25 Ancient Babylon was a powerful and wealthy pagan empire over a huge area of the MidEast. It had a huge influence on nations. We read how a wicked king in Israel tries to befriend and impress the king of Babylon in order to build himself up, only for this to eventually result in Israel being captured, robbed, and enslaved by Babylon. Under wicked kings, the Israelites had been worshipping pagan false gods, yet at the same time saying they were God’s people and bringing sacrifices to the temple. They were adulterous hypocrites. We see the whore of Babylon and her daughters.
So, God allowed them to be captured by the one they chose to serve! Babylon overstepped in cruelty towards Israel, so in Isaiah 13 we read that God intervenes. Babylon is horrified with unexpected warfare from the Medes. Verse 17 says the Medes cannot be bribed, they are out for power. Extremely rich Babylon could not bribe the Medes. In verse 8, it says the pains and anguish will come on Babylong quickly and by surprise as does childbirth! Sound familir? Babylon thought it was impervious and strong, with great fortified walls. They were rich, confident, and proud…focused on entertainment. Yet, Babylon was overcome and captured in a day. Fallen, fallen is Babylon!
Same pattern today and in Revelation. If you look closely, you will see that Babylon and her daughters are alive and well today! While Babylon and her daughters grieve her fall and destruction, the people of God rejoice!
Here in Revelation 14:8, judgement and verdict is proclaimed to Babylon. In Revelation 17, we will find more description of Babylon. And in Revelation 18, we will see its actual fall.
Revelation 14: 9-13
Previously, we read about the verdict decreed for Babylon, the one who corrupts the passions of people and nations with idolatry and immorality. Babylon will fall and burn like Sodom and Gomorrah.
In Revelation 14: 9-13, the judgement verdict is announced for those of Babylon who worship the beast and its likeness and therefore receive its mark to buy and sell its goods. In Revelation 17, there is more detail concerning the whore of Babylon. She rides the beast out of the sea as its whore. These people have given their attention and devotion to the beast system, and ignored the gospel messages of the 144,000 witnesses and the heavenly angels. These “daughters of Babylon” have chosen against God and His grace, so they will experience His wrath and anger against evil. It will be torment! The bowls of God’s wrath and judgement are coming.
But in verses 12 and 13, we read encouragement for God’s people still on earth, those who steadfastly endure in this tribulation and persecution with faith in Yeshua Jesus and habitually aim to keep God’s commandments. Those who die in the Lord from now on will be happy, prosperous, blessed, and to be admired…for they will have relief and rest from their labors and their deeds will follow them with rewards.
Matthew 12: 30, Yeshua Jesus said, “He who is not with Me (once and for all on My side) is against Me, and he who does not unequivocally gather with Me scatters.” Amplified Bible version.
