Revelation 19: 1-10 The Whore Falls and the True Bride Rises

After Babylon falls under God’s judgement, all of heaven mightily shouts with joy and gives praise and thanksgiving to God. His judgement is sound, true, and just. The Lord is triumphant.
The marriage of the Lamb at last has come! His bride has prepared herself (verse 7). She is dressed in white righteousness signifying right relationship with God and godly living. Blessed are those invited and called to the marriage supper of the Lamb.
The parable of the 10 virgins waiting for the Bridegroom in Matthew 25 would be a good parellel study. Notice that all the virgins (those who are pure and not part of the adulterous whore of Babylon) are invited to the wedding. They are pure because their sins have been washed away through believing in Jesus as their Savior. They are not intentionally adulterous like the whore of Babylon, or living with focus on their lusts and luxuries. But, 5 virgins are foolish and their lamps are not full of oil. The other 5 virgins are wise and have their lamps full of oil. Oil often signifies the Holy Spirt. The foolish virgins do have oil in their lamps – the Holy Spirit is in their lives, but in limited measure. They have never spent their time and life in the world to buy oil to continually keep their lamp full. They know Jesus as Savior, but do not follow Him as Lord. The wise virgins are continuously full of listening to the Holy Spirit and following Him in fellowship and obedience. The wise virgins are searching the Word of God to know Him more and trying their best to be like Him. As the verse in Revelations says….the true Bride of Christ is robed in white righteousness, meaning covered in right relationship (a child of God through Jesus), right being (Christ-like character), and right doing (godly living in Christ, meaning IN the Anointed One and His anointing). The other 5 know about the Bridegroom’s coming, but are not prepared. They quickly try to get their lamps full of oil, but when they return, the door to the wedding is already closed and the Bridegroom says “I do not know you.”
There is a difference in knowing about Jesus and really knowing Him in personal relationship. The testimony of Yeshua Jesus will speak the truth. Do you know Him in relationship so that He also knows you intimately? He only comes and reveals Himself to those who open the door and welcome Him in and then continue in fellowship and increasingly growing together IN Him. Revelation 2: 4-5 and Revelation 3:20 teach us that this is a continuous, devoted, primary relationship….the kind between loving spouses.
If we want to be prepared, we need more than a “salvation prayer” or regular church attendance. In Matthew 5: 6, it says those who hunger and thirst for right standing with God and for uprightness of character will be blessed and satisfied. The other beatitudes in this chapter also teach us about Christ like character. In Matthew 6: 33, we are taught to seek FIRST for the kingdom of God and His righteousness. The kingdom of God is those who come under His rule and authority in their lives. Remember the Lord’s prayer…”Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven.” His righteousness means His right way of being and doing. It means going His way, not the world’s way. When we put God in first priority as the first commandment says, He will take care of everything else necessary in the world. We do not need to put all our trust in world systems and primarily spend our lives and time in pursueing worldliness.
The Bride of Christ is prepared for the Bridegroom. They have a relationship of deep love. Yeshua Jesus is coming to catch away His true Bride for the wedding. It does not mean that those who believe in Jesus as Savior will not be saved, they are saved “as through fire”. Paul speaks of this group of people in 1 Corinthians 3:15, “But if any person’s work is burned up under the test, he will suffer the loss of it all, losing his reward, though he himself will be saved, but only as one who has passed through fire.” Now, recall that the catching away of the true bride of Christ to meet Him in the air is when He comes again on The Lord’s Day, just as God’s wrath and judgement are to be spilled on the remaining evil in the earth. God has not appointed His people to incur His wrath, so He will find a way of escape for all His people. So, if you find yourself in the fire, hold fast to Him in the test of faith and you will be saved. (1 Thessalonians 5:9).
