Revelation 20 Final Judgement

The sea beast and land beast have been thrown into the lake of fire for eternity. The dragon has been bound and hurled into the bottomless pit for 1000 years. Special mention is given to the martyred witnesses of Christ who faithfully endured during the last time of Tribulation. In verse 6, it tells us about all those who are part of the first resurrection, both dead and those translated while living….. in the Amplified version, “Blessed (happy, to be envied) and holy (spiritually whole, of unimparied innocence and proved virtue) is the person who takes part in the first resurrection! The first resurrection is for all those who are in Christ. Over them the second death exerts no power or authority, but they shall be ministers of God and of Christ, the Messiah, and they shall rule along with Him one thousand years.” The first resurrection happened at the time Christ “caught away” His bride when He returned to earth as King of Kings and Lord of Lords. In the twinkling of an eye, they were transformed and glorified into their new resurrection life and bodies!
Verse 5 tells us that the remainder of the dead (those who are not in Christ) were not restored to life again, and will not be until the 1000 year reign of Chirst on earth is completed.
Verses 7-9 tell us that after the 1000 years, there will be multitudes of peoples on earth. Who are these multitudes of people? If those in Christ who were part of the first resurrection are now in the kingdom of Christ for eternity, and the dead without Christ are still dead, then who is left? There must be people who are left alive on earth when Christ returns to reign who are not at that time His people, His bride. I imagine over the 1000 years, they have more children and the population increases. The people of this Millenian Age under King Yeshua Jesus must also be given the free choice to continue to follow King Yeshua Jesus or to rebell with Satan. So, after 1000 years, Satan is released from the bottomless pit to give them opportunity to separate against Christ. When they encircle the fortress of God’s people to attack, fire descendes from heaven and consumes them all.
AND then, Satan is hurled into the lake of fire into which the sea beast and land beast/false prophet were already hurled. They will be tormented there for all eternity, through the ages of ages.
Then comes the final judgement of those from the second resurrection. Revelation 20: 11 reveals the Almighty Holy God and Judge on His great white throne and they are all standing before His throne. God’s books are opened. Another book is opened, the Book of Life. Verse 12 in the Amplified version says, “The dead were judged (sentenced) by what they had done (their whole way of feeling and acting, their aims and endeavors) in accordance with what was recorded in the books.” Verse 13 adds, “all were tried and their cases determined by what they had done (according to their motives, aims, and works). Daniel tells us about his vision of this time in Daniel 7:9-14. Daniel 7:10 Amplified says, “the Judge was seated (the court was in session) and the books were opened.”
Before we move on to the judgements, I am thinking that those of the first resurrection do not seem to be part of all of this. They were part of the first resurrection, not this second resurrection. Yeshua Jesus has already paid the penalty for their sins and they have been made righteous in Him. Their sins are forgiven and buried under the sea – the unseen place of no remembrance and no return (Micah 7:19). I could be wrong…but it seems they are already glorified and living with Yeshua Jesus, their King and Lord for eternity. They need not stand before the judgement throne of God.
So, back to this second group of newly resurrected dead, those who died without Christ. They must stand judgement and sentance for thier own crimes against righteousness, for their own sins. It occurs to me that being God is just, He allows them a court day, He proves their guilt by looking in His books of truth, and only then gives sentence. No one will be able to say they were unustly convicted of crime, but really innocent.
Revelation 20: 14 is really interesting and revealing. Amplifed version, “Then death and Hades (the state of death or disembodied existence) were thrown into the lake of fire. This is the second death, the lake of fire.” The place of first physical death (hell) is thrown into the place of second spiritual death (lake of fire). This reminds me of Jesus words to Nicodemus in John 3:3, “You must be born again.” We are a spititual life being inside a physical body. The death of the physical body is the first death. The second death of the spirit is in the lake of fire. Death means to be separate from life. And God is the source of life. So, spiritual death is separation from God who is Life. These are those people who have chosen to be separated from Him, His Life, and His kingdom. Verse 15 tells us that if a person’s name is not written in His Book of Life, then their destination is the lake of fire, along with the dragon, beast, and false prophet who are antichrist. They are getting what they chose….to be without God, without Life.
