Chapter 2 The Stones Cry Out

Luke 19: 40, “And he answered and said unto them, I tell you that if these should hold their peace, the stones would immediately cry out.”
Archeology proves the Bible to be historically accurate. Scientific dating proves its maniscripts were written during the lifetimes of the authors. For example, the first five books of the Bible are historically consiered to be the writings of Moses, and now that has been proven accurate. This is also true concerning the authorship and dating of the 4 gospels of Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John.
In the middle of the 19th century, a high critical school popularly criticized the Bible as true and factual. Since that time, the stones have been crying out. Archeology and science have proven the Bible so accurate and true that no one has been able to find a discrepancy. Many people who began as atheists, who spent years trying to disprove the Bible, only found proofs and therefore became believers as well. Some of these men mentioned in this book include the German scholar, Julius Wellhausen, Theodor Noldeke, Dr. Flinders Petrie, Dr. Hugo Winckler, Dr. William F. Albright, Professor John Garstang, Yale professor Millar Burrows, Sir Frederic Kenyon, Nelson Glucck, and Sir William Ramsay.
D. James Kennedy writes on page 35, “The spades of the archaeologists have uncoverd innumerable facts that confirm the Scripture. Over 2500 sites have been discovered that pertain to the Bible. Records of tens of thousands of individuals and events also have been found. The most recent and continuing testimony of archaeology, like all such testimony that has gone before, is definitely and uniformly favorable to the Scripture…”
We can now see the wisdom of God in including so many details in the Bible, the Word of God. These detailed facts cry out to confirm the truth of the Bible….all the cities, places, kings, individuals, the “begats”, etc. have a great purpose! When carbon dating combines with archeology, we discover that the Bible is totally accurate and historical. The discovery of ancient libraries has also now proven that writing and books were prevenlent during ancient times, even the time before Noah! These are not just the “tales” of a nomadic people told around the campfire!
In concluding this chapter, D. James Kennedy says there is no longer any debate of historical or scientific data to prove the Bible is true, as an excuse to not believe the Bible. He suggests that the more common reason may be more of a moral disposition….meaning an unwillingness to have a Lord over one’s life. Yet, I believe that if anyone asked Jesus to reveal Himself to them and took time to get to know Him, they would see how perfectly good He is, and what a blessing it is to be His “friend that is closer than a brother”.
Do some research. The stones are crying out to validate Jesus as the promised Savior. There are many books on the subject. Other books I can think of are, “More Than A Carpenter” by Josh McDowell, “Evidence That Demands a Verdict” by Josh McDowell, “More Evidence That Demands a Verdict by Josh McDowell, “The Best of Josh McDowell – A Ready Defense” compiled by Bill Wilson, “The Case For Christ” by Lee Stroebel, “The Case For Faith” by Lee Stroebel, “Mere Christianity” by C.S Lewis.
Do your research if you have doubts or if you want to have a ready defense for those who question your faith. This affects your life now and will continue into eternity. Where do you want to be the rest of your existence? Can you help someone else find the truth in the Bible? It is worth the time to search for the truth so that you know.
Hosea 4:6, “My people perish for lack of knowledge”
Hosea 6:6, “For I desire and delight in dutiful steadfast love and goodness, not in sacrifice, and in the knowledge of and acquaintance with God more than burnt offerings.”
