1 Peter 4: 9-11
Amplified version, “Practice hospitality to one another (those of the household of faith). (Be hospitiable, be a lover of strangers, with brotherly affection for the unknown guests, the foreigners, the poor, and all others who come your way who are of Chirst’s body.) And (uin each instance) do it ungrudgingly (cordially and graciously), without complaining but as representing Him.)”
Recall that in the previous verse, we were also instructed to love our brothers and sisters in Christ. It seems to me that we often hear the message from the world that we should love everyone. But, we should have a greater love for our brothers and sisters in Christ and be willing to welcome and help them. I think the Heavenly Father intends His family to be “close knit”.
As beloning to the family of God, we can offer more than hospitality. God has given us gifts and abilities. We did not even earn these talents. He gave them by His grace. So, we should be good stewards and users of our gifts, abilites, and talents. If you are a good speaker, then speak the wisdom and Word of God. If you are good at serving, then do it in God’s abundant strength. Then, the Father is glorified forever through our Savior Jesus and His body. To Him be glory and dominion forever. Amen….so be it!
Have grace and understand that it does take time and effort for God’s children to grow up also! Blessings!
